Törn 35825 _ What a race!

Data/Datum: 2025_07_29

Weather/Wetter: always fair

Getting to grips with this voyage on the ALEX has been exciting, challenging at times, but most of all a fun and fulfilling journey!

Being at sea has to be by far the most exciting part of it all. The voyage from Aberdeen to Norway was much faster than expected, with three strong watches and excellent wind conditions and maybe a little bit of singing along the way. It was the perfect combination for the ALEX II to finish in 10th place of forty ships in the race! Which is good considering it could have taken up to a week to finish but we only took one day (and one night)!

And from what I have gathered that is pretty good going for the ALEX! With a 15 degrees lean angle at some points during the race we soon made it to the finish line.

We had mostly dry weather for our crossing over the North Sea, at some though there was a “peerie” (small) bit of rain leaving us feeling a bit on the “drookled” (wet/soggy) side. But luckily this didn’t last for long or dampen our spirits as it started to hear up as we cruized closer to Norway.

As some of us tried our best to not get too burnt me got closer and closer to our first Port in Baaly!

With plenty of potatoe peeling during the night watchs, trimming and setting of Sails and plenty of Shouting “Hol weg” night and day the ALEX finished the race and made it to Norway!
