Class Afloat _ A Pelican Visiting and another Rocket Launch

Dear Families and Friends,

Yesterday was a spectacularly beautiful day at sea. There wasn’t much wind for the sails to catch, but by sunset, the ocean was so calm you could skate across it, and the sky was a pinky blush.  A pelican graced us with its presence on the ship. Earlier in the day, we had a fire drill that ran smoothly with a rapid response and an orderly deck. Later in the evening, most of the crew gathered on the foredeck for a rocket that never launched from Cape Canaveral. It felt like New Year without midnight or fireworks! But for those who set their alarms and returned at 2350, the rocket fired, and they were treated to a front-row seat on the ocean as it flew overhead and dropped its booster rocket on the horizon. Tomorrow it’s a double-birthday – Kysen and Faya.
