Class Afloat_Last Day in the Villages in Samaná Peninsula

Date: 05/02/2026

Logkeeper: Anya

Dear friends and family back home,

Today we had the opportunity to complete our service projects in Samana, say goodbye to the friends we made there, and travel back to the ship in Santo Domingo for some last-minute shore leave before we depart for Cuba tomorrow morning. As we put the finishing touches on our murals and painted our last few houses, everyone seemed to come together in appreciation for the amazing experiences we had during this port programming, with each of us coming away with individual stories about our homestays and collective memories of learning about this incredible place and the impact of giving of yourself to be of service to others. We are hugely grateful for this chance to expand our understanding of our role as global citizens, form long lasting connections with the people we met across Samaná, and work together for the shared purpose of doing something good. Now we are all preparing to get back to our routine of classes and watches and set sail again tomorrow for our next port – Cuba!

Lunch: Gas station ice cream 🙂
Dinner: Chilli and rice
