Hello friends and family,
Yesterday (25th) was an exciting port program day for students and faculty. We travelled south and inland from Roseau and split into two groups to begin a beautiful hike through Dominica’s stunning rainforest to Middleham Falls, the tallest waterfall in the country. Along the way, students learned about native plants and animals from our local guide, and many enjoyed swimming at the base of the falls and trying some rock jumping. After hiking back to the bus, we took a short drive to Titou Gorge, where students swam through the narrow volcanic canyon and experienced the refreshing waterfall at its centre. It was a wonderful day of exploring two of Dominica’s most iconic natural sites, and the students returned tired, happy, and full of stories from a truly memorable adventure.
Everyone has really enjoyed their time in Dominica. It has felt like an extension of the holidays and has given students the chance to ease back into ship and watch routines. Our new students have settled in really well, and it has been wonderful to see them bonding with their watches and heading off on shore‑leave adventures with new friends. We will be departing Dominica on the 26th and beginning our journey toward our next destination, the Dominican Republic.
Hope all is well in the outside world!
Jacquie 🙂 (teacher)
