Dear Family and Friends,
Today was a momentous occasion; we saw land for the first time in fifteen days! Now, we can all say that we have crossed the Atlantic on a tall ship! Beckett and his fishermen caught a big Cobia. Fish will most likely be on the menu for dinner tomorrow. Classes continued as normal, while students, faculty, and crew took every spare moment to call their loved ones and share belated holiday greetings now that we have service again.
As we sailed down the Suriname River towards our berth, we were treated to a beautiful sunset, framed by the jungle on both sides. Watch 5 had the best view of all from the rigging as they packed the sails. Below deck, the student crew rallied at the Deep Ship Clean. The Alex 2, now sparkling, is ready for a much-needed rest, and we’re gearing up to ring in the New Year in the jungle!
All the best,
Emma

Dear Family and Friends,
Yesterday was a great day. As we finished up our last day of sailing, the crew decided to give us a day of fun in the water, and we briefly anchored in the afternoon to take a dive in the Atlantic. We dropped anywhere as high as 10 meters, and some of us had better landings than others. A lot of us even swung from a rope into the ocean, which was very fun. Afterwards, we ate a Marlin fish that some of us caught, and had ice cream for dessert.
Until next time,
Shaun
