Life onboard is full of surprises. Yesterday seemed like a normal day until, with no warning, an announcement went up on the noticeboard in the mess at 17:00: standing watches were ending in five hours. The news took everyone by surprise – even the Stamm crew. Watches 1 and 6 were the lucky ones: they knew going into their watches that it would be their last one together. It’s been an honour and a privilege, everyone.
