Hello to all parents/ guardians, friends, and family members who continue to follow us on our journey,
Thank you so much for your support as we sail across the sea! As we continue island hopping around Cabo Verdeâs beautiful islands, we have gotten to experience a little bit of everything; good food, a walking tour of the sights, and some singing and dancing. (Their cultural dance is known as capoeira, which we got to participate in). On the island at night (or during the day), if you hear a loud drumming, clapping, and singing, follow the sound to its source as it will allow you to see a unique performance unlike any other. We are hopeful to get a chance to have a swim call in the near future as well.
Tonight we had the pleasure of an open performance invitation on the Alex II for all to come enjoy some nice sing-along music backed with some of our orchestra members and instruments: we heard some violin, keyboard, drums and slap box, and our very own crew strumming on their guitars. We heard songs by The Beatles, Billy Joel, and some German favorites as well – it was a lovely evening filled with good company.
I cannot say that we are terribly excited for our upcoming 16-day sail across the Atlantic, as we will have no communication with the outside world and see nothing but the sea (sea, sea, sea!) for days on end, but I am confident that we will make this a memorable Christmas and New Yearâs, despite being away from loved ones this holiday season. For the events we have to look forward to in the coming couple of weeks, I want to shoutout our Events Planning Committee team, as this would not be possible without them.
Thank you so much once again, and wishing you all safety, good health, and happiness this holiday season!
